Without Translation
Mission Trip poem
There are over seven thousand languages in the world
spread across nearly two hundred countries.
Yet when I hear your laugh
I’m reminded that the entire world shares one language:
Love.
I may not speak your language.
Or know even the simplest phrase
but a smile can show me the world.
And I may not ever learn
Or even form a sentence
Still a hug needs no translation.
Because when we truly care
And put others first
Doesn’t that say enough?
Doesn’t that say more?
We don’t need an essay
Or a paragraph from our lips
All we need is willing hearts
Overflowing with love
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1
