First of all, let me start with saying, YES SPOILERS INCLUDED! Second of all… I’m warning you now… There is quite literally no structure or prose with this… I apologize in advance.
Okayyyyy let’s goooo!!!
The Lunar Chronicles. AHEM! FAIRY TALE RETELL DYSTOPIAN!!! YOU GOT ME HOOKED! I love fairy tale retells so MUCH! And then you go and tell me OH YEAH! It’s also dystopian… TAKE MY MONEY!
Cinder was by FAR my favorite! It was so cute and sweet!! Kai is such a cute little prince and Cinder is just *chefs kiss!*. Peony’s death just about tore my HEART OUT! HOW COULD THEY!?
Levana… ew ew ew ew.
Oh! I saw Cinder being Princess Selene as soon as the long lost princess was mentioned! Horrible obvious foreshadowing right there. I thought maybe the author wanted us to know… but later on it seemed a little more like it was supposed to be huge and we were supposed to be shocked to the moon and back! (pun intended)
Also guessed who Cress’s father was… Like come on! Crescent Moon/Cress…? Sadly stuck out like a sore thumb in my mind!!
Annnddd like yeah… that’s not entirely her fault… I usually guess plot twists before they are revealed anyway.
While Cinder was my favorite… THAT DOESN’T MEAN THE OTHERS WEREN’T SPECTACULAR!
AHEM… Scarlett?! Like once I looked over the ‘Alpha’ thing *moment to breathe* I mean come on! You have to admit they’re adorable.
And on that note. Wolf… Kelsey…Ze’ev… whatever you want to go by! You are a sweet baby angel! Oh my gosh I felt for most of the characters but if Wolf was in pain. I WAS IN PAIN! If he was happy. I WAS ECSTATIC! I loved him so so so much!!!
Cress had to be my least favorite… simply because YES! We love you Thorne… but SIR! Was that necessary?? *eye roll* like yes, we know you’re a flirt. But some things are not meant to be said out loud.
This said… can we just rant about the fact THORNE FELL IN LOVE WITH CRESS WHEN HE COULDN’T SEE HER?! even though he was so focused on outward beauty… this was literally the perfect thing EVER!
…Until you remember Cress is supposed to be like what…? 16? and Thorne is supposed to be 20… like four years isn’t bad… when they are BOTH in their twenties… BUT LIKE! that was simply an author suggestionnnnn. Which I have in fact Respectfully, Declined and decided Thorne will be 18. Thank you.
Winter, the last and final book… SIKE! There is in fact a book afterwards with a bunch of cute little short stories of their lives when they were kids and then a EPILOGUE where WOLF AND SCARLETT GET MARRIED… like shut UP!
Right right! Winter!—WOLF WAS IN SO MUCH PAINNNNNN NOOOO!—FOCUS!
Considering an ending can literally make or break a book… this was a pretty good ending XD. Yeah that’s about it… they had their big battle… won… everyone is back together… OH WAIT! Winter and what’s-his-name… gosh what IS HIS NAME… JACIN! (no… I totally didn’t have to look that up… moving on)
Jacin is moody. Jacin is grumpy. Winter is bubbly and happy. GRUMPY/SUNSHINE!
THAT’S ANOTHER THING ABOUT THIS SERIES! Literally every trope ever! Forbidden love. Lost Princess. Grumpy/sunshine. Prince/Peasant. (Sadly) Alpha/mate… *shudders*. Princess/guard. Lovers/enemies. Enemies/lovers. Friends/lovers. Like GUYS! You don’t have to pick… XD
Oh right! AND anyone wondering where my rant of Fairest is… You will not find it here. Bye bye, try somewhere else. In my personal opinion that book was too much for me on multiple scales. And I wasn’t looking forward to reading about Levanas backstory anyway. Didn’t get too far in before I DNFed it and if you know anything about me… you should know I HATE DNFing a book… like HATE with a passion hate… but I just couldn’t go on with this one.
Well… I guess that truely is it now… I waited a few… months? Has it really been months… oh wow… October… OKAY WELL that just proves everything here STUCK with me for months!!
I did write a review from this but over five books and me apparently not being very absorbent… I feel like I missed a ton of things… ooops… so instead! Let me introduce you to LINDSEY! Fair warning, SHE IS INCREDIBLY CRITICAL! BUT also very detailed in her reviews… like counts how many times a curse pops up. Mhm, detailed!
